Shiny, Shiny, Shiny. I’m having fun with this new off shoot of Defensive Postures. Which is strange, because thinking about the illogically couched logical conclusions of the series makes me sad. The titling of this piece was in reference to video games. You yourself escape, you also complete somebodies business plan. the act of getting away powers the machine. In other news, on my vacation I went to Dick’s Classic Garage in San Marcos, Texas and the San Antonio Zoo. Loaded up on Pics.
These paintings are all 18×36, a very comfortable size for me. I’m using the same organizing principals as the other Defensive Postures work, but instead of using pictures of used cars, I am collecting old helicopter pics. I became interested in doing a series of game birds because of the illustrations in a bird book a co-worker was perusing. The golden spiral arrangement of the feather patterns and the born to die nature of game birds were a factor.
This painting is a massive redux. I removed a kimonoed figure and replaced it with a giant tiger head. This necessitated working a lot bigger than I was used to, but I like the results.
My third sushi print is still available at Guzu Gallery. Go buy it, Won’t yoooooou?
